Salmon Outing – Saturday, October 15th, 2016

The always popular Salmon/Steelhead Outing is going to be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2016. We will once again be meeting at the Thornapple Landing on the Muskegon River. As always, lunch and drinks will be provided and anyone interested is welcome to attend even if you are not a SJRVFF member. If you have not done any Salmon fishing then this is a great opportunity to get into some fish and have someone with some experience help you out. Don’t worry if you are light on equipment – there will be some there for you to tryout as well. And if you have experienced the pull of a Salmon before, come on up and spend the day hanging out, trading stories, and maybe helping someone experience the thrill for the first time.

Dues Confusion

Several of you have expressed confusion regarding the SJRVFF club dues cycle so as we are beginning a new cycle I felt it was a good time to clarify.
According to our bylaws, dues are payable by January 1st and considered delinquent if not paid by May 1st.  We have elected to start the dues payment cycle on September 1st.  Dues paid from September 1st to January 1st are paying for the upcoming calendar year.
The 2017 dues remain the same as 2016, $20.00 for an individual, $35.00 for a family or $5.00 for a junior membership (18 years or younger).
For your convenience, dues are payable online through PayPal by accessing the online registration at www.sjrff.com and clicking the “join now” tab at the top.  You may also send a check payable to SJRVFF to PO Box 933 South Bend, IN 46624 or pay in person at any of the monthly general membership meetings.
Please take a few minutes and renew your membership TODAY!
Thank you!

Wednesday Night Fishing-August 31st, 2016 @ 6:00

Hey all,

Well, last week, fishing on the St. Joseph River proved to be a little difficult due to high water. Given the amount of rain that we got over this past weekend, I am not sure that fishing on the St. Joe this week would be any better. Smaller creeks with cooler water may be a better choice. So, this week we are going to fish on the Dowagiac Creek at Griffis Rd.  in Cassopolis, MI.

Directions can be a little tricky as I do not have an address for you to plug into a GPS. So, here are the “old school” directions from downtown Cassopolis, MI. go one block east on M-60 to Okeefe Rd then north 4 miles to Kelsey Lake Rd. Turn right (east) on Kelsey Lake Rd and take it 1 mile to Griffis Rd. Turn left (north) on Griffis Rd and go 1.5 miles to where Griffis Rd crosses over the Dowagiac Creek. Park along the side of the road.

I hope to see you there!

Todd
