SUMMARY:SJRVFF General Membership Meeting: Phil Cook
DESCRIPTION:Phil was fortunate enough to start fishing at age 3 and fly-fishing at the age of 8 on the\nbanks of the Au Sable River where he honed his craft and annoyed his grandparents for\na large chunk of the summers from age 8 until he got his drivers license. From there\,\nthe world became his oyster and he took many trips through the famed western trout\nwaters and to the salty flats and lagoons of the Florida coastline. After fishing too much\nin his first two years in Wyoming\, he was called back to the banks of the Au Sable\nwhere he primarily guided\, and worked in two separate fly shops over an 8 year span.\nFrom there\, he went to work for Scientific Anglers for almost 6 years and is now a Sales\nRep for a menagerie of different fly-fishing companies including Airflo Fly Lines. \nPhil is the proud father of 3 kiddos\, Jackson\, Kelby\, and Conway and lives in Midland\,\nMI with the love of his life Kristina and their three fur babies\, Millie\, Lena\, and Penny. \n  \n \nPhil will discuss how different types of fly lines are made\, including enlightening us on\nthe differences between polyurethane vs. PVC lines. He will also review the histories of\nthe major line companies\, including Cortland\, Rio\, Scientific Anglers\, and Airflo and\nreview the pros and cons of their lines. \nAt the end of Phil’s presentation\, we will hold a drawing for members that are attending\n‘virtually’ for a free AirFlo fly line. Details with a link to sign in to the zoom meeting will\nbe in the January newsletter.
